MAPA® programme delivers comprehensive training that teaches management and intervention techniques.

This official MAPA® course is being delivered in Ireland by accredited MAPA® trainers and being made available to individuals and small groups not employed by the HSE and other large organisations. This course is being delivered in association with Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) and Health Training United Care Ltd

AIM: To develop participants’ knowledge, confidence and skill in recognising, assessing and de-escalating aggressive behaviours encountered within the context of their role by understanding and management of disruptive aggressive and/or violent behaviours.
It focuses on early intervention with non-physical methods of preventing or managing challenging behaviour. Participants will also learn how to manage their own stress, anxiety and emotions when confronted with such behaviour.

This course is in line with the HSE Policy on Management of Work-Related Aggression & Violence which is set in context of Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005, associated regulations and HIQA nursing home’s inspection Outcome 8: Health and Safety and Risk Management.

Aim of the Course: Participants will be able to recognise and respond to life-threatening emergencies such as sudden cardiac arrest in a safe, timely and effective manner.
The Course is also suitable for: Medical, para-medical and allied healthcare professionals

  • Adult, paediatric and infant CPR
  • Bag-valve mask ventilation, mouth-to-mouth, mouth-to-barrier ventilation
  • Two-rescuer team scenarios

Heartsaver AED for Medical Centre Administration staff (non healthcare professionals)

The aim of the Heartsaver AED course is to equip the participant with the relevant knowledge and skills to deliver a range of life saving techniques in an emergency situation. Participants will learn basic techniques of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and the relief of choking for adults, children and infants.

The Course is suitable for: For anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in CPR and AED use to meet regulatory or other requirements. Ideal for Healthcare Assistants and administrative staff in health centres.

Course Programme:

  • Adult CPR
  • Mouth-to-mouth, mouth-to-barrier/mask ventilation
  • Foreign-body airway obstruction (conscious and unconscious)
  • Automated external defibrillation
  • Special resuscitation situations
